Today was a gorgeous day. It may have been because the last couples weeks have been a tundra and today was just comparatively warmer so it felt like July. Or maybe Mother Nature just wanted my best friend Kristen to have a lovely day after ruining her plans last night (ice skating was supposed to be then). With midterms coming up, only two of us were able to ice skate with Kristen today--and that was fine with me. As her special day, I didn't care what we did; I cared only that she was going to have a good time. So we hopped on the BSL, transferred to the MFL, and headed over to Penn's Landing to their pop-up rink. The whole setting was very cool--in a couple ways. The river had huge chunks of ice floating. The rink was a little slushy but not too crowded so we could enjoy ourselves. Next to the rink, there was cabin-like tent, with fireplaces and chairs and games and ricking chairs. So comfy and homey and perfect for Kristen's birthday. She's a ball of fun and was totally in her element--even when she tried remembering how to skate backwards and looked silly doing it. Cheers to Kristen--the most smiley and best roommate I ever had.
