Basket Bidding Fun

Elise made the baskets pretty.

So for the past couple month, a few students and I have been organizing "Basket Bidding" for the auction held annually at school. Last year, when I just worked it, it seemed relatively easy and straight forward. However, now that I was one of the ones in charge, my stress levels went through the roof. We had to ask people to ask for baskets. We had to get baskets ourselves. We had to make them look nice. And transport them back and forth a lot. So naturally I really didn't enjoy the night of the auction.

However, despite my complaining, we did raise $51 more than last year on auction night (at least for basket bidding) and we actually got 33 baskets (which we expecting about 0). I'd say it was pretty successful. And you know what else? As a newly certified van driver, I backed the 15 passenger van out of a small lot without hitting any cars or breaking any baskets. And it was only the second time driving the van for me. I gave myself a pat on the back. And I guess another successful part of the night was that I looked nice (see above). That's considering most days I just wear my running stuff around.

(The first time I drove the van was the day before and we couldn't find the headlights so I drove with the high-beams (but I had to hold the lever so they were on) so not a great time.)

So we don't have to worry about baskets until March. I can relax a little until we have to move all the baskets from south campus again. Good thing there are fewer baskets now. Until more basket bidding fun...
