A Couple Things

A couple things:

1. Today I went to FroGro to get food (obviously). When I finally got back home, I checked my receipt and I was charged $1.99/lb for apples instead of $0.99/lb!! In the grand scheme of things, four dollars don't matter. So I called my dad for advice. He suggested that I go back. I trekked back and spoke with Kenny. He was very nice and reimbursed me! It was funny because he had to weigh the apples to get the poundage but I didn't have the apples with me. He resorted to all sorts of objects as substitutes, like hand sanitizer and Pepsi. But I got my $4.11 back!!! Yay!!

2. Should I get a record player? I don't really need one but it would be very cool. They are very cheap at the thrift store near my house. Maybe...

3. Okay, my econ class has made me obsessed with Rodriguez and his whole story. I want to see the documentary about him (Searching for Sugar Man). It was at Ambler but I never saw it. I have a request placed in at the library!

Wayback Wednesday

Okay okay, I know it seems like this is what I'm all about. But I really meant to post about camp when it happened...the first week of August. Anyway, two-time Olympian Andrew Wheating gave a talk one night. And then we got a picture with him! Needless to say, it was pretty cool. He really stressed working hard and enjoying the sport. I guess I'm doing okay then!

Small Flowers

There's beauty in the smallest of things. Before volunteering this summer, I thought, for the most part, that all flowers looked the same. Boy was I wrong. There are many different shapes and colors. I bought a few natives at a plant sale and hopefully they don't die!!

So I always want to put old pictures of me up on Thursdays for "Throwback Thursday," but I never remember. Here's to Flipback Friday!! I meant to post these pictures back when I went to the zoo because Cody wanted to get our faces painted. Well, here you go. I couldn't top these.

A New Day

So I haven't been good about this site. This is supposed to be about my small adventures. I had one bug adventure and now I can't find the joy in the little things. But I promise I will do that now. It is a new day to see the world. Let's get started.

Reason: It was assigned in class.
Thoughts: I'm 8 pages in and I can't explain how everything seems to relate to my life. So far, it is about finding more in the little aspects of life. My mind is running wild while reading. It reminds me of Rome and this blog and getting the most out of everyday.

So where did I find "more" so far today? It probably was at 5:55 am, when I left the house for my run. I locked the door and tied the key onto my shoelace. As I hurried down the steps, I noticed the slight fall chill that will make this time of year so great. (Yes, I know it was early so that is why it was cold but it wasn't like this last week!) I ran up my street toward school. It was dark but some cars and people were out. I thought I was out an hour earlier than I was supposed to be. Alas, I wasn't. But just crossing the street, with few cars to dodge, in the darkness, in the fall chill, I loved running. Early morning is my favorite time to run. It feels like no one else is awake or even in the world. And you can see the sunrise. I do this twice a week so while it is becoming more commonplace, it still has that certain feeling, at least for a moment.

Nerd Alert

This is a public service announcement. Do not read and walk at the same time. You could get hit by a car or bike or moose. Or you could trip over uneven pavement or a curb. Most of all, you could be easily identified as a geek or weirdo or nerd or extra lame.

But as they say, all's fair in love and war. You gotta do what you gotta do. Bigger muscles win bigger tussles. I needed to finish that book before our time trial the other night. It was a library book and I had to give it to my dad to take back. I had five pages left when it was time to go. Luckily I finished as soon as I got to the track. Also luckily I did not die while walking and reading at the same time. It wasn't worth it in the end because the book's end was lame. Whatever, you win some, you lose some, but you live another day as a nerd.

The ZOO

Okay, so I meant to do this a couple days ago and then again today, but my #1 fan was balling her eyes out because I didn't post quick enough. Whatever.

This past weekend, my family headed to Ocean City for one last hurrah before school starts for everyone. The weather was not my kind of beach weather but I stayed positive, hoping for a beautiful Sunday. Instead, it was cloudy and drizzling. My #1 fan was such a sweetheart and picked me up so we could spend the afternoon at the zoo. I made us sandwiches, although I was a little bitter because I offered her the one I made for myself and she took it! The zoo was packed, but we the best of it.

"I want to cuddle with [insert every single animal here]!" said my #1 fan. My response was always how weird the animals were. This accurately describes us in real life.

We saw cows, a pig, goats, peacocks, eagles, a lion, giraffes, cheetahs, snow leopards, snakes, crocodiles, turtles, zebras, bongos, bison, reindeer, an albino wallaby, black bears, camels, bobcats, birds, and squirrels (very exotic creatures).

The zoo was free so I liked that.

Cody wanted to get her face painted but I was not having that. Also, it was super expensive!!

There was a shirt in the giftshop (my favorite part!!!). It had "Hairy Otter" on it. Get it?!?!?!???

Well, then tomato girl came back with me to Ocean City, where we ate pasta and lots of Johnson's Popcorn. Can't wait to see how much she had changed since getting her wisdom teeth out. Tomorrow!!!!
