So all of my "What I'm Listening To" up to this point have been songs or artists or albums. But today I was listening to NPR about how what you eat can help or hurt your stress levels. I'm a very stressful person and I stress over a lot of things. I'm stressing about the week I move into school because I have many meetings on one day. I worry about graduate school, visiting Kristen, sleeping, etc. I try to plan ahead for everything so I can be less stressed in the future. I'm definitely not good with going with the flow, at least for some things. But back to NPR, essentially you can control your stress levels by eating certain things. I know when I feel stressed, I eat ice cream and cookies and pretzels and a lot of things actually. But the broadcast suggested trying to resist those cravings because it will just continue the cycle of stress.
Some stress-busting food that they suggest are:
- eggs
- dark and leafy greens
- pumpkin seeds
- fish that are rich in omega-3
- flaxseed
- dark chocolate
