Last week I saw Obvious Child, which I'd describe as a realistic comedy with some serious threads. Lots of relatable themes and events that appeal to many people. It just seemed real. It was sad and funny and awkward, all at the same time. I'd definitely recommend it, especially for those 20-somethings out there. It was just a life movie.
Today I saw The Immigrant, which was sadder and darker and violent. Two Polish girls arrive at Ellis Island, only for the one to quarantined. The other girl, rejected by her New York family, must "work" to earn enough money to get her sister out. She is very pretty and a lot of men like her but she is only concerned with her sister. I guess it proves true that sisters have the strongest bonds. It was a bit different than I expected but still good.
