Bye 2016

Ah 2016. The year went slowly until it rushed by in the last month. What did I do? I tore my ACL, got surgery, and started running again. I made friends and lost friends. I opened up more. I tried not worrying about school. I finished school. I got a job (and will start in 2017). I saw good movies and read good books and listened to good music. I went biking and drinking and movie-watching and concert-going all by myself. I laughed and I cried and I shared the pants. Nah, just kidding, that's from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. It was getting too serious here. But here's to 2017: a chance to grow and explore and to become a slightly better person.

T & B

Tap and Bottle--one of my favorite places in Tucson. Harley and I said our "see ya laters" tonight, drinking our way through the tap and the fridges, trying many different beers. We stayed until closing. I think we made it in this world--the bartender knows us!

Christmas Cookie

Probably the most creative I got when decorating cookies. Harley's grandmom was so funny--she kept assigning tasks to do like we were cookie manufacturers.

Sunday Tradition

For the past few Sundays, I've been heading over to Tap & Bottle for a beer or two and to get some homework done. The place is really nice for homework--quiet and homey. It's getting to the point where the bartenders recognize me. I'm a little mad that I didn't start going here until a few weeks ago--I missed a whole year of Tap & Bottle.

Post-Turkey Hike

12 mile hike starting at the Gabe Zimmerman trailhead out by Vail. Pretty flat as we were mostly in the dry riverbed. Juan wanted to find some preserve without paying so we made it 6 miles out before we decided to head back, It was getting dark and we walked most of the way back in the pitch black. We saw a javelina and I was scared of getting killed (by the javelina or a person). The cool part was that the stars lit up the desert so we didn't always need our lights. After getting lost, we righted ourselves on the train tracks and made it back. Boy was I tired.

Thanksgiving Turkey

I made a delicious, last-minute turkey despite my haters, most noticeably my roommate Karla, who badgered me to put it in the oven at 9 am on Thursday and kept sending me recipes. I ate turkey every day for a week afterwards. Our friends who came over on Thanksgiving said it was good although maybe they wanted to be nice? Either way, I was proud that I did it.
