Lunch Adventures

So I just discovered that I can leave the office during lunch and no one cares. Amazing. This pretty much sums up how much of a worrier I am. Today's trip took me to the Philosophical Society, the Portrait Gallery--just around my building. Lunchtime is bustling! Too bad I only have four lunches left.

An Afternoon in the Life

Pixar scores performed by the Philadelphia Orchestra? Check. Basil and sea salt gelato, reminding me of Rome? Check. A Saturday afternoon of walking and exploring Center City in a light drizzle? Check. So pretty much a great time.

Burgers

There's this little (and I mean little) place that I often run by. The Rusty Shack (not an appetizing name) was very good and a good value. $7.25 for a burger and a huge side of fries. It was all made on the spot so I had to wait a little. I just got a burger with avocado, jalapenos, pepper jack, lettuce, tomato, and salsa. Spicy. It definitely was worth the walk. Remember, don't judge a burger shack by its name.

Intern Perks

Besides the valuable expience I'm gaining at my internship, I just enjoy taking the train into Center City and walking along Market Street with all the other commuters. It's pretty cool and definitely makes up for waking up at six o'clock. I'm all grown up!

Bloufits and Cookies

So my today consisted of running, eating, reading, and making cookies. I also didn't leave the house so I wore a bloufit. A pretty good (but humid) day to do absolutely nothing.

See You Later, Not Goodbye

Soon I'll be all grown up. But for now, I can watch everyone else grow up and move away and say goodbye or see you later. It's kind of scary thinking that will be me next year. Or scary that these people will be gone for a little while at least. One of my recently new friends from the last couple years is Catherine, who I'd say is kind of similar to me but better in being nice and helping people, among other things. She's going to be spending the next 10 months or so volunteering in El Paso, Texas, at a high school. I'm very excited for her and to write her letters and to hear all about it. She leaves for orientation tomorrow in Chicago and then it is off to Texas! I guess this is one of Catherine's awfully small adventures so hopefully she has a great time making a difference in others' lives as well as her own. Good luck and we'll be following you!

Disposable Cameras

I like disposable cameras. You only have one chance to get it right and if not, you get a really funny picture out of it. Times were simpler with film. You couldn't be glued to you camera; you got experience and memories and not 1000 pictures. And I like how grainy the pictures turn out. I got this disposable camera back in the summer of 2012. There's a lot on it that I didn't remember. But I got 15 gems back. Here's a sampling.
