Independence Day

Abe

Star Wars?

I'll take one of those

Hot and humid 4th of July. Parade in Philadelphia, full of dancers, bands, organizations, but no candy. Free hats, flags, juice, and food courtesy of Wawa at the parade and multiple other corporations on the Parkway. After the Philadelphia History Museum, our parents left, so Jimmy and I explored the Parkway for the afternoon. Yogurt and Tastycakes as snacks. I left before the concert started, allowing my brother the freedom to hang out with his friends without me. Fun day although we need to keep in mind the significance of the day 237 years ago and what it gives us the freedom to do today.

Manayunk

Manayunk Arts Fest earlier today. Spent the late morning/early afternoon shopping down main street with my mom (are you happy now?). A beautiful day to just get out of the house.

Ambler Arts Fest

Ambler Arts Fest...a nice two hours walking the main street in Ambler. I got a little color on my shoulders, a white and black baseball tee with a Philadelphia design on it, and a great lunch at KC's Alley. The best part was just getting out of the house to enjoy the beautiful weather.

The Trust

Two days a week I volunteer at Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust. I do all sorts of work, like trail maintenance, removal of invasive plants, and pretty much anything else. I love it. It is a lot of work sometimes, out in the sun or the middle of nowhere (it seems much farther when you drive than when I would  run). Tonight was the volunteer picnic. All the workers say thanks to the volunteers by having a cookout. Well I could have been the granddaughter of every volunteer there. This nice lady Joan took me under her wing and didn't let me stand there awkwardly the whole time. But before the picnic, I got a chance to walk around a little. I didn't get too far but it was enough for tonight.

Graduation

Congrats little brother--you did it (like we expected you not to or something...)!

Wild and Free

"All good things are wild and free."

Probably a mix of the Pre Classic and my volunteer position at a local park made me yearn for Oregon--the big blue skies with all sorts of green places to explore. Anyone want to take me back?
